3 College Students Step Up

We’d like to tell you a story about 3 College Students, 3 Month-Old Twins and 3 Months.

Sitting in a coffee shop studying for college exams, Jessica got a call from Safe Families. Three-month old twins needed a Safe Family for three months. She and her roommate, Marci, prayed and agreed to help. A few days later the babies came to stay in their home.

“Our community, specifically the members of our church, were incredible,” Jessica says, “I think they panicked a little when they knew it was us that would be taking the girls.” The roommates were flooded with support from people they didn’t know before taking the children in. “Our house was filled with everything you can imagine: we had clothes, diapers, and a meal train set up.”

Curtis, another college-age friend, came to help. “It started with helping build a crib, and then helping change bottles, trying to put them to bed, trying to remember all of the lullabies from my youth, you know. You really do get attached.”

Eventually mom was ready and the twins returned home.

“It started about being an exciting opportunity,” Curtis says, “and it turned into being about two little lives. Safe Families stepped up to the plate, a church, a community stepped up and poured love into these two little girls. And it ended up they could be returned to their mom.”

The best possible outcome – and as with any ministry, the impact is life changing for all involved.
